IV Hydration Q & A

What is IV hydration?

If left untreated, dehydration can threaten your very life. When severe dehydration sets in, simply drinking water may not be enough. Thirst isn't the only sign of dehydration, either. Other symptoms of dehydration include:

  • Dryness in the lips, tongue, eyes, and skin
  • Rapid heartbeat or breathing
  • Blotchy skin on your hands or feet
  • Wrinkling skin
  • Not urinating very much or very often
  • Dark urine
  • Skin that’s cool to the touch

When you become dehydrated, your body doesn’t have the fluids and electrolytes it needs to perform a wide range of functions. Hydration supports your brain, muscles, and heart. It flushes bacteria from your system and delivers nutrients to your cells. Clearly, being short on fluids can cause problems in the body.

IV hydration is designed to rebalance your body’s hydration levels quickly and effectively. By delivering the fluids needed directly through your venous system, Life Point Medical, LLC can help you feel better or more hydrated as soon as possible.

Why do I need IV hydration?

IV hydration is useful whenever your body has fallen into dehydration. That can happen after a fever, the flu, excessive exercise, diarrhea, or heavy alcohol consumption. Whatever the reason for becoming dehydrated, IV hydration can help.

What’s more, Life Point Medical, LLC can integrate vitamin infusions to help you feel as healthy as possible as quickly as possible. By remedying any vitamin deficiencies along with your dehydration, your vitamin-infused IV hydration can put the pep back in your step.

What should I expect during my IV hydration treatment?

At Life Point Medical, LLC an expert registered nurse (RN) administers your IV hydration and stays during the entire process to adjust the fluid levels as needed to deliver your body the most effective hydration. If you’ve ever had a blood sample collected, you can rest easy knowing the process is very similar.

During IV hydration, your RN inserts the IV line into your arm via a small needle. They will then feed the necessary fluids, including any vitamin infusions, through that IV line. You’ll notice your dehydration symptoms melt away as your treatment delivers just what your body needs. IV hydration is available daily to help you feel your best.
